Rhythm Heaven Groove perfect timing guide

Chasing flawless runs? This timing guide covers how the Perfect Campaign works, how to earn a Superb, and the habits that keep a no-miss streak alive.

The Perfect Campaign in one paragraph
You can't just choose to go for a Perfect. First earn a Superb on a stage. Later, that stage may host a Perfect Campaign — a "Go For a Perfect!" banner appears and you get three tries to clear the song with zero misses. One miss ends the attempt; lose all three and you wait for the campaign to come back. Clear it and you get a Gift at the Café.
The habits

Timing tips that hold a streak

Small things that separate a near-miss from a Perfect.

Earn a Superb first

You cannot attempt a Perfect on demand. You must earn a Superb (Groove's "Amazing") on a stage to make it eligible for a Perfect Campaign.

Use headphones

Subtle audio cues that the console speaker hides can carry the beat. Clean audio is the difference between a Perfect and a fumble.

Your hand is a metronome

Let your wrist or thumb tick with the beat so inputs land on feel, not reaction. Let the music guide the hand.

Drift late, not early

The window forgives late more than early. When a streak is on the line, sit a hair behind the beat rather than ahead.

Manage your nerves

A racing heart desyncs you from the beat. If you choke, take a break before retrying — restarting hot usually loses.

Learn the whole song

If you break a streak, keep playing to learn what's ahead. Count your misses dropping run to run — that's your progress gauge.

The Perfect-farming trick
Want them all fast? Get a Superb on every stage first. Once your whole roster is Superb-rated, Perfect Campaigns start appearing back-to-back until each one is cleared — far quicker than waiting for them to trickle out one at a time.

Common questions

Perfect timing FAQ

How do you get a Perfect in Rhythm Heaven?
Earn a Superb on a stage to make it eligible, then clear the whole song with zero misses during its Perfect Campaign. You get three tries before the campaign resets.
What is a Perfect Campaign?
A limited-time challenge that appears on a Superb-rated stage. A "Go For a Perfect!" banner shows up, you get three attempts, and a single miss ends the run.
What is the fastest way to farm Perfects?
Get a Superb on every stage first. Once every game is Superb-rated, Perfect Campaigns appear back-to-back until all are cleared — the quickest way to mop them up.
How do I know which Perfect Campaign is coming?
Check the Café Barista. In the older games, the Barista forecasts which stage will host the next Perfect Campaign, so you can prep the right song.
Are any stages more forgiving for Perfects?
A few. In Shoot-'Em-Up, Frog Hop and Lockstep, a mistimed input counts as a miss for your rating but does not end the Perfect Campaign — an exception found nowhere else.
Does input lag ruin Perfect runs?
It can. Rhythm Heaven is sensitive to delay, so skip Bluetooth audio, use game mode on your TV, and set calibration options before a serious attempt.
