Overview
Rhythm Heaven Megamix is the Nintendo 3DS entry, and it doubles as a greatest-hits collection. It launched in Japan on June 11, 2015 as Rhythm Tengoku: The Best+, then came West — North America on June 15, 2016, Europe on October 21, 2016. In PAL regions it is Rhythm Paradise Megamix; in Korea, Rhythm World: The Best Plus. If you want one game that covers the whole series, this is it.
How it plays
Megamix is a compilation of over 100 rhythm minigames — 70 pulled from earlier games (including the Japan-only Rhythm Tengoku) and 30 brand new ones, for 108 games in all. You play with the A, B, and directional buttons. There is an optional stylus mode, though the DS flicking mechanic is gone. Tsunku wanted simple, easy-to-understand controls here.
What set it apart
The headline addition is a full story mode. You play to rescue Tibby, a creature who falls to Earth World, and clearing games moves the story forward. Megamix also added the Score Meter and folded in minigames from across all three earlier games — including the ones Western players never got to play.
